The Sign and the Seal" - The Story of the Ark of the Covenant
The Ark of the Covenant, the sign of God's presence on earth, is mentioned in the Bible from the divine command to build it in the wilderness until its introduction into the Holy of Holies by King Solomon in the Temple. After that, it is no longer mentioned.
Where did the Ark go? When? By whom?
- We will begin the tour by visiting the 'Church of Our Lady of the Ark of the Covenant', which preserves the location of the Ark before it was taken to Jerusalem by King David.
- We will tell about the various stations the Ark passed through from the time it was ordered to be built during the Israelites' journey in the desert until its arrival here.
- We will travel to the 'Church of the Holy Mary of the Resurrection', built around an ancient spring, and there we will hear about the mysteries and myths behind the Ark's disappearance.
- When was the Ark taken? By whom? Why? Where is the Ark of the Covenant?
- Finally, we will meet a monk there who will sing to us with his wonderful clear voice.
The tour takes place in the area of the village of Abu Ghosh and requires a vehicle for each family.
